Melvin Long

Melvin Long, passed away on Wednesday August 23^rd, 2023, at the age of 70. He was born May 11^th, 1953, in Lawton, Oklahoma to James and Faye Bates Long. Melvin grew up in Irving, TX, where he started his own business, Long’s Plumbing and House Repair, and spent most of his life. He married his first love, Pamela Ann Long, and happily shared over 30 years and two sons together. Throughout his life he greatly enjoyed his love of drag racing, the Dallas Cowboys, and spending time with family, especially his twin brother and lifelong best friend, Alvin – the two were inseparable. Melvin always loved to be around people and was very generous to others, you could say that he never met a stranger. He was a wonderful father, brother, uncle, grandfather, and friend. Melvin will be missed dearly, and his memory will forever be cherished.

Melvin is preceded in death by his parents, James and Faye Long; his brothers JC Long, James Long, Alvin Long; his sister, Glenda Long.

He is survived by his sons, Robert Long and wife Kelley, Clint Long and wife Shayna; brothers, Waymon Long and wife Dee, Calvin Long and wife Karen; sisters, Faye Rose Rowell, Shirley Kilthrill and husband Buddy Joe; granddaughters, Jordan Long, Courtney Long, and Alina Long; grandson, Howie Long; along with numerous nephews, nieces, and other relatives.

A funeral service will be held on Saturday August 26^th, 2023, at 10 AM at Emerald Hills Funeral Home and Cemetery, 500 Kennedale Sublett Rd. Kennedale,TX 76060.
