Merle Max Caruthers, 86, of Granbury, Texas passed away Monday, October 2, 2017.
Funeral Service 2 p.m. Friday at Emerald Hills Funeral Home.
Visitation 6-8 p.m. Thursday at Emerald Hills Funeral Home.
Merle was born in Brownsfield, Texas on August 6, 1930 to Myrka and “Gus” Caruthers. He served his country as a medic in the Navy during the Korean War completing his duty in October 1952. He was Plant Manager of Hobbs Trailers and retired after 28 years.Merle “warmed” the bleachers of almost all (as well as coached some) of his 3 children’s sporting events. He was a good provider and a wonderful role model.
He is preceded in death by his first wife of 44 years, Dorothy.
Survivors: Wife of 18 years, Christine; 3 siblings Adrian Caruthers, Oneta Robertson and Virgie Lee; 3 children, Crystal & husband Jim Gause, Kelley Caruthers & wife Claudia, Kent Caruthers & wife Rosie; stepdaughter, Wendy Canard & spouse Ken & stepson Rusty Woodard.Merle has eight grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren.
