Michael Patrick Golden was born Jan. 5, 1958, in Lowville, N.Y. Mike was U.S. Air Force veteran and served two tours of duty for his country, the first as a young man in the Air Force from 1976 to 1980, and the second as assistant administrator in the Transportation Security Administration from 2006 to 2008. Mike had been employed by Southwest Airlines for the past 27 years, holding various positions within the company, but most recently serving as senior director of airport security technology. Although his career in aviation was exemplary and rewarding, his greatest joy in life was simply spending time with his family. He also enjoyed his hobbies of woodworking and model shipbuilding, which brought out the "perfectionist" in him, as well as boating and just being in or on water. Mike loved his Lord and was a longtime member of St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church in Arlington.
Survivors: His beloved wife of 32 years, Laurie (Joey); daughters, Heather Golden Wright and fiance, Eric Almond, Heidi Taylor and husband, Jeff, Holly Golden and Hailey Sasser and husband, Tyler. He was the proud Papa of grandchildren whom he adored, Reagan, Madison, Aiden, Zoie and Noah. He is also survived by his mother, Pat Golden, and father, Jim Golden; brothers, Jimmy, Reggie and Dannie Golden; and sisters, Debbie Addington and Vicky Golden.
