Michael Lou Jamerson Sr. was born on January 10, 1962, in the Borough of Brooklyn, New York, to Martha Haywood and John Jamerson. From a young age, he favored the name Lou, and it quickly became the name he was known by. He graduated from Abraham Lincoln High School and pursued college courses before joining the U.S. Navy in December 1988. Unfortunately, he was injured during Basic Training at Great Lakes, Illinois, and was honorably discharged in March 1989. The injury led to the development of epileptic seizures, but despite this challenge, Lou relocated to Texas in 1991, where he lived until his passing on March 6, 2025.
While in Texas, Lou met and married Sherrilynn Scott, and they were blessed with Amber René in 1994 and Michael Scott in 1998. Although the marriage dissolved after 15 years, Lou and Sherri remained on friendly terms to continue parenting their children.
Lou spent over 20 years working in the security field before his health declined, ultimately retiring with full Veterans Disability. Retirement allowed Lou more time to be present with his children, something he cherished deeply. Yet, the most important aspect of Lou’s life was his unwavering faith in Jesus Christ and the love he had for his dear Savior. He first received the Lord in his Brooklyn apartment. After hearing the gospel on a radio station, he prayed to accept Jesus as his Savior in that very moment.
Lou was preceded in death by his parents, John Jamerson, Martha Haywood, and stepfather Gordon; his brother John Jr., nephew Anthony Jr., and niece Yvonne. He is survived by his sisters Shirley and Mona; his brother Clement Jr.; his children, Amber René Jamerson and Michael Scott Jamerson Jr.; and a host of nieces, nephews, friends, and family. He will be deeply missed. His legacy of love, faith, and dedication to his family will live on in the hearts of those who were fortunate enough to know and love him.
