Mildred “Kay” Garrett born September 19, 1941 passed away January 1, 2021.
She was a dental assistant and married at the age of 18 in February of 1960 to John W. Garrett, JR at her Sister Nelda Herod home in Benbrook.
While Kay was a nurse’s aid at Kennedale Nursing Home she was in a patient’s room singing a church hymm the owner of the nursing home heard her. She asked her to come to her office. When Kay went to the office, she was afraid that she was going to get fired. The owner told her that she wanted to advance her to the activity director. The owner kept advancing her. Kay received her Associates Degree to become an Administrator of Nursing Homes.
Survivors are daughter, Carolyn, and husband Danny Bell of Springtown; son Terry Garrett, and wife Susie of Azle; son, Gerry Garrett, and wife Judy of Kennedale; daughter Diane, and husband Herschel Henson of Azle; daughter, Rhonda, and husband Bill Ball of Granbury; 12 Grand Children; 20 Great Grand Children; nieces, nephews, and great nieces; and nephews.
Kay is also survived by sister, Wanda Ballou of Benbrook; brother, Doug Burt, and wife Cathy of Azle; sister-in-Law, Roberta Burt of Fort Worth.
Mildred was preceded in death by father, Joseph Burt and mother, Marie Hull Burt; brother, Tommy; brother, Danny; sister, Nelda Herod; husband, John W. Garrett, JR; brother, Terry; father-in-law, John and mother-in-law, Margaret Garrett; brother-in-law, Gene; and sister-in-law, Patsy Ballard.
