Nellie Lucille Lowery, 100, passed away on Tuesday, December 6, 2022 in Fort Worth, Texas. She was born on February 26, 1922 in Crowell, Texas to Melville Edmunds and Sally (Vassar) Edmunds.
Lucille married Tommie Lowery on December 24, 1946 and they spent most of their married life in Kennedale.
Lucille enjoyed reading, sewing, and cooking. When her children were young, she worked at home selling farm fresh milk and vegetables to folks in the community. Lucille was an excellent seamstress and did custom sewing from home.
Lucille’s favorite job was managing the snack bar at the local drag strip where she worked into her 80’s. Lucille formed many lasting friendships at the drag strip and was famous for her cheeseburgers. Lucille loved her family and enjoyed spending time with them and getting to see all the generations she created. Lucille lived independently until her death.
Lucille was preceded in death by her parents, Melville and Sally Edmunds; husband, Tommie Lowery; sister, Leona Stewart; grandsons, Bill Minnis and Hardee Minnis Jr,; and granddaughters, Conni Miller and Shelley Moore.
Those left to cherish Lucille’s memories are her sons, Hardee Minnis and wife Sharon of Burelson, Texas, Eddie Minnis and wife Dana of Arlington, Texas, Tommie Lowery and wife Vickie of Mansfield, Texas; daughters, Diane Verde and husband John of Weatherford, Texas, Sallie Watson and husband George of Alvarado; nine grandchildren; sixteen great grandchildren; and thirteen great great grandchildren.
A funeral service will be held at Emerald Hills Funeral Home (500 Kennedale Sublett Rd, Kennedale, Texas 76060) at 11:30AM on Monday, December 12, 2022 with interment to follow at Hudson Cemetery.
