Fort Worth ~ Oneita Erin Schmalried, 93, formerly of Alvord, a retired seamstress, went to be with our Lord Saturday, February 13, 2016 in Fort Worth.
Funeral service is 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, February 17, 2016, at First Baptist Church in Alvord with burial at Emerald Hills Cemetery in Kennedale,Texas at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday. Family will receive friends one hour prior to service at First Baptist Church in Alvord. Coker-Hawkins Funeral Home handling the arrangements.
Rev. Bill Cleveland will officiate. Pallbearers include Robert Hachtel, Melton Neighbors, James Sullivan, Kenneth Buckner, Bobby Harris, Tom Grier, and Aaron Terfiteller.
Oneita was born on March 27, 1922 to Sam and Erin (Sills) Gillentine. She was united in marriage to Edward Lowell Schmalried on July 7, 1941 in Mansfield, Texas. Oneita was a sweet-spirited person. She will be missed by all her family and friends. Oneita was a member of the First Baptist Church in Alvord.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Edward Schmalried; her baby girl, Sharon Gayle Schmalried; her brother, Sam Gillentine, Jr.; her step-mother, Eula Winnet Gillentine; her grandparents, John Combest and Sallie Sills.
Those left behind to cherish her memory are her sisters, Hazel Branson of Fort Worth, Ruth Basham of Hico, Texas, and Polly Hagler of Little Rock, Arkansas; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and a host of friends.
