Peggy McCool Hurst

Peggy Joyce (McCool) Hurst, aged 84, of Arlington, TX, passed away on February 14, 2024. She was born on December 28,1939, in Simpson County, Mississippi to Samuel Otha and Lillie Maude (Way) McCool.

Born in Simpson County, MS, Peggy grew up in Jackson, MS and graduated from Central High School in 1957. She worked at various companies across Mississippi and Texas as a secretary, typing pool manager, and accounts receivable specialist before retiring in 2005 from Oil States Industries in Arlington, TX. She also taught an adult education word processing class at a local Jr. College.

Peggy married Lewis G. Hurst, Sr. in 1957 in Mississippi. They were happily married for 19 years. She enjoyed her family, reading, traveling with family and friends, doing puzzles, collecting perfume atomizers, and enjoying her favorite boiled peanuts and boxed wine. She loved sitting in the backyard swing to watch the birds, squirrels, and the dogs.

Peggy was preceded in death by her husband, Lewis G. Hurst, Sr.; by her father and mother, Otha and Lillie; and 8 brothers and sisters: Marvin, Graden, Norris, Sam, Benton, Shirley, Mae, and Dennis.

She is survived by her children; daughter Linda, son in law Jim, sons Lewis, Jr, Robert (MeLanie), and Michael (Michelle). Grandchildren Kraig (Cathleen), Jennifer, Stephanie (Sean), Laramey (Kirstin), Justin (Journee), Lauren and Addison. Great-grandchildren Addison and Ethan (Kraig), Reagan (Laramey) and Wyatt and Waylon (Justin). and numerous nieces and nephews.
