Priscilla Owens, age 83, passed away on April 2nd, 2025, at Medical City Arlington in Arlington, Texas. She was born on May 4th, 1941, in Dallas, Texas to William and Ruby (Pollard) Akers as the youngest of five children.
Priscilla grew up in Dallas, graduating from South Oak Cliff High School in 1959, subsequently attending SMU on a scholarship. While working retail she had an older coworker who thought she should meet her son. They did not hit it off. (It might have had something to do with him embarrassing her by driving in front of her school in his hot rod with her name freshly painted on the fender.) However, when they met again after a few years had passed, they both had a different perspective, now very much enjoying each other's company and eventually falling in love.
Priscilla married Michael Owens in 1962 in Dallas, Texas. They were happily married for over 60 years. Priscilla and Michael waited a few years to start their family (eventually two daughters), after working and saving to feel able to provide for their new family. She was devoted to her family and worked in various secretarial jobs for oil firms downtown and as a devoted homemaker. She was an accomplished seamstress and enjoyed painting and games and puzzles and projects at home with her husband Michael. Priscilla and Mike shared many other adventures together through the years too. They participated in a square dance club, a bowling league, Lake Tawakoni Bass Club, RV travel, church involvement, and grandchildren care. Priscilla remained close with her church family, her extended family, and good friends she retained until she left this earth.
Priscilla was preceded in death by her parents, William (Bill) and Ruby Akers, her siblings Virginia, Milton, Barbara, Charles, and her husband Michael.
Priscilla is survived by her daughter Robyn Hawley, daughter Michelle Denning and husband Steve, her grandchildren James Denning and wife Erika, Josh Denning and wife Emily, and Jessica Denning and husband Luke Pritchett, as well as her great-grandchildren Owen, Gideon and Lael Denning, and most recent arrival Daisy Denning.
The family extends their appreciation and gratitude for all the many friends and family members who have been part of Priscilla's life. We invite any who wish to meet us afterwards at a restaurant for a bit of fellowship and reminiscing, along with a casual meal/refreshment. Details will be announced after the memorial service.
