Rev. Billy Gilmore

ARLINGTON -- Rev. Billy Owen Gilmore, 82, of Arlington, passed away Tuesday, May 5, 2015, surrounded by his loving family.
He was born in Leverett's Chapel, on January 30, 1933.
Celebration of his life: 2 p.m. May 12 in the Chapel of Emerald Hills Funeral Home, Kennedale. Interment: Emerald Hills Memorial Park. The Chapel will be open at 10 am for viewing along with a video featuring Rev. Gilmore's life. Rev. Gilmore was a graduate of the University of Texas in Austin, as well as the So. Baptist Theological Seminary in Fort Worth, TX. After pastoring churches in Clarksville, Sulphur Springs and the First Baptist Church of Hawkins, Rev. Gilmore, his wife Lee Ann, son, Michael and daughter Kimberly went to Brazil in 1962 as So. Baptist Missionaries. A second son, David, was born in Brazil. Rev. Gilmore spent his first eight years helping to start and build new churches. He later became the Executive Secretary of the Radio/Television Board of the Brazilian Baptist Convention, as well as Director of the Portugese Language School for new missionaries. The Gilmore's returned to the States in 1982.
Bill was preceded in death by his parents, Artys Owen Gilmore and Willie Anderson Gilmore; sister, Tommie Nell Buckner.
Survivors: Beloved wife of 59 years, Lee Ann; daugther, Kimberly Ann; sons, Michael Cole and wife Patti, David Owen and wife Pamela; six grandchildren, Katie, Ryan, Kevin, Emma, Maggie, Jonathan; great-granddaughter, Aniyah and sister Barbara.
