Roger Lee Fry, aged 78, passed away on July 7, 2024, at his residence in Grand Prairie, Texas. He was born on September 21, 1945, in Mansfield, Ohio, to the late Paul and Charlotte (Jones) Fry.

Roger's formative years were spent in Bellville, Ohio. Following his years after High School:

  • He enlisted in the Army National Guard of Texas in 1965, serving with distinction for seven years. During his tenure, he was a recipient of a Sharpshooter (Rifle) and attained the rank of Specialist Four before his honorable discharge in 1971.
  • Subsequently, he embarked on a notable 35-year career as a Fleet Service Agent with American Airlines, retiring in 2002.
  • In 1965, he married Sylvia in Grand Prairie, Texas, and they cherished 53 years of marriage. The couple was blessed with two daughters, Tonia (born 1967) and Beverly (born 1969). Roger found joy in wrestling, Ohio State and Dallas Cowboys football, coaching baseball, fishing, and spending quality time with his grandchildren. In recognition of his commitment, he received The American Airlines Field of Excellence award in 1999.


Roger was preceded in death by his parents, Paul and Charlotte Fry; his siblings, Dwight Fry, Judy Savant, and Wilma Tidwell; his beloved wife, Sylvia Fry. 

He is survived by his daughters, Tonia Craig (Danny) of Grand Prairie, Texas, and Beverly Durante (Terry) of Valley View, Texas; his brother, Paul Fry (May) of Fredericktown, Ohio; his sister, Margaret Dubose of Myrtle Springs, Texas; his grandchildren, Danny Lee Craig, Otis Craig, Jesse Fry, Elizabeth Durante, Dalton Durante, Trestin Durante, Hannah Goodwin, Megan Graham, Trevor Durante, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and great-grandchildren.

A funeral service honoring Roger's life will be conducted at the Emerald Hills Funeral Home and Memorial Park, located at 500 Kennedale Sublett Rd, Kennedale, Texas 76060, on Saturday, July 13, 2024, at 12:00 pm. Prior to the service, a visitation will be held on Friday, July 12, 2024, from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm at the same location, followed by burial at the Emerald Hills Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that memorial donations be directed to the Grand Prairie Boys Baseball Association located at 405 Dickey Rd, Grand Prairie, Texas 75050. Messages of condolence can be shared on Roger Fry's online guest book on the Emerald Hills website.

The family expresses their sincere appreciation to the Grand Prairie Boys Baseball Association and the compassionate staff of Emerald Hills Funeral Home.
