ARLINGTON -- Ronald F. Formby, loving husband, father and grandfather, passed away at the age of 71 on Saturday, Nov. 1, 2014, at his home.
Celebration of life: 2 p.m. Thursday at Trinity United Methodist Church in Arlington.
Memorials: In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to Susan G. Koman for the Cure.
Ron was born in Magnolia, Ark., to Marcella and N.E. "Foots" Formby. Ron and his family moved to Texas in 1945. He graduated from Gladewater High School and attended Kilgore Junior College and North Texas State University and later Southern Methodist University. Ron entered the building industry in the early 1970s and found his passion and became one of the most respected home builders in Dallas-Fort Worth history. He was a leader in the housing industry locally, statewide and nationally.
Ron enjoyed the outdoors and was an avid fisherman and hunter. He also enjoyed skiing and a variety of other outdoor activities. He was a 32nd-degree Mason, had a motorcycle license, was a certified scuba diver, graduated from culinary school as a chef in his 60s and received his pilot's license at the age of 65.
Survivors: Wife, Pat; daughter, Kerry Parrish and husband, Randy, of Arlington; son, Chance Formby and wife, Rhonda, of Nashville, Tenn.; grandchildren, Payden and Haley Parrish and Dash Formby; brothers, Donald Formby and wife, Cherryle, and Michael Formby and wife, Dianna; sister-in-law, Susan Largo; and numerous other nieces, nephews, family and friends.
