Ronald Wayne Rickard, 75, passed away on Saturday, June 18, 2022 at Mansfield Methodist Hospital in Mansfield, TX. Ron was born on January 24th, 1947 in Fort Worth to Ray Rickard and Ethel (Clayton) Rickard.
Ron grew up in Fort Worth. He graduated from Everman High School in Everman, Texas in 1965. After high school he:
attended Tarrant County College where he received an associate’s degree in electrical engineering.
joined the Army in 1967 and served for 2 years. He served in Vietnam and was the recipient of the Vietnam Service Medal w/ 3 Bronze Service Stars. He was also awarded the National Defense Service medal.
began work for DFW Airport as a emergency vehicle technician where he worked for 15 years. He retired in 2010.
Ron married Myra Winters in 1971 in Fort Worth. They enjoyed a life together for 50 years. The family is grateful to have had a wonderful 50th anniversary celebration in December. Ron was a member of First Baptist Church in Kennedale where he served as a deacon and children’s Sunday School teacher. He enjoyed building computers, taking his beehives to schools (where he showed them the queen’s dance), traveling all over the world, waiting on his daily Amazon packages, attending Kennedale High football games, attending grandkids’ activities, and tinkering with anything with a wire.
Ron was preceded in death by his parents, and sister Teresa.
Ron is survived by his spouse, Myra of Fort Worth; his children, Wendy (John) Thacker of Arlington, Jason Rickard of Fort Worth, and Clay (Robin) Rickard; his brother David (Mary) Rickard; sister, Joyce Hatch, and Denise Edington; his grandchildren, Jon Blake (Andrea)Thacker, Ke Thacker, Ian Rickard, Iris Rickard, Zane Rickard and Violet Rickard; his great-grandchildren, Lauren and Lucas Thacker; and many nieces and nephews and other relatives.
A funeral service will be held at First Baptist Kennedale at noon on June 22. A visitation will be held before the service at 10 a.m. at the church. Inurnment will take place at DFW National Cemetery on Friday, June 24 at 9 a.m.
In lieu of flowers the family requests memorial donations be made to First Baptist Church Kennedale or a charity of your choice.
