Rosa Lee Brown

October 10, 1946 — March 12, 2025

Fort Worth

Rosa Lee Brown, 78, passed away on March 12, 2025 at her home in Fort Worth, Texas. She was born on October 10, 1946 in Fort Worth, Texas to Hubert Buchannan and Theresa Brown.

Rosa grew up in the Lake Como neighborhood of Fort Worth, Texas, where she attended Como High School.

  • She began her career as an office clerk at Mid Continent Oil Company in the early 1970s, and as a single mother, she took on a part time job as a supermarket cashier to increase income, entrusting the kids to their adopted Aunt Melva and Ms. Ruby.
  • In 1978 she began her entrepreneurial pursuit after securing janitorial contracts at multiple office buildings in nearby Everman, Texas – taking them on as a third job.
  • In 1983 she began her career as an insurance saleswoman at Family Life Insurance Company and instantly excelled to top salesman status – winning Rookie of the Year, numerous Saleswoman of the Year and Monthly Sales Leader awards, and being inducted into the Red River Region Hall of Fame in 1987 – just 4 years after being named Rookie of the Year. She continued her insurance sales into the early 2000s, when she began to focus on her real estate career.
  • Having purchased her first duplex from her mother in the ‘60s (which her estate still owns today) she continued to accumulate real estate assets throughout her life. In the early 2000s she began what would become know as “flipping” single family homes, often purchasing, rehabilitating and selling properties in less than 90 days.
  • Rosa was actively involved in her church, as well as several ex-offender reentry non-profit initiatives, being a passionate believer in second chances for all. She received numerous awards as a saleswoman and volunteer for multiple Tarrant County reentry programs.

Rosa was a member of Crossroads Tabernacle. She enjoyed movies, garage/estate sales, soap operas, and talking on the phone with her girlfriends.

Rosa was preceded in death by her parents, and siblings Wayne Brown, Theresa Brown, Mary Ann Brown, and Andrew Brown.

Rosa is survived by her four children: Marie Mims of Fort Worth, Texas, Michelle Mims of Fort Worth, Texas, Myron Mims (Tracy Pipkin) of Dallas, Texas, and Thomas Campbell (Rhonecia Campbell) of Fort Worth, Texas; her grandchildren: Matthew Nealy, Marcus Mims, Ethan Campbell, Teondra Campbell, Trinity Campbell, Talia Campbell, and Breyana Murkeldove; her great-grandchild: Kennedy Mims; her siblings: Linda Jordan, James Brown, Carolyn Brown, and Tammy Walker; and a host of cousins, nieces, nephews, relatives, extended family (Melva Jones and Rick Hurd) and friends.

A Celebration of Rosa's Life will be held at Crossroads Tabernacle, 1470 Morrison Dr., Fort Worth, Texas 76112 at 12:00 pm, Saturday March 22, 2025. Burial will follow at Emerald Hills Cemetery in Kennedale, Texas. A visitation will be held at the Church from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm, Friday March 21, 2025.
