Ruth LaJane (Janie) Reeves, 84, passed away on the 4th, February 2021 at Remarkable Healthcare in Fort Worth, TX. She was born on February 20, 1936 in Fort Worth to Thaddeus and Viola (Lawrence) Campbell.
Janie grew up in Fort Worth, Texas. She dropped out of high school to work and help support the family.
Her brother Howard James was married to Aletha Reeves and introduced Janie to Don Reeves who was just getting out of the Marine Corp. They hit it off and married in Weatherford, Texas on November 24, 1954. They were happily married for 49 years, during which time they had three children, Linda, Jay and Cherie.
Janie became a full time Mom and was always home doing the cleaning, cooking, making the kids clothes and getting them off to school while Dad brought home the bacon. She didn’t go back to work till her youngest was in school and she was finally able to obtain her GED.
Janie loved Walmart so much she got a job there and worked there for 6 years before retiring.
She enjoyed crochet and loved making things to give to her kids and grandkids for Christmas.
Janie was preceded in death by her husband, Donald Lee Reeves, her parents Thaddeus and Viola Campbell, her siblings Howard, Lloyd and Betty Campbell.
Janie is survived by her daughter Linda Myrow and and her husband Bill Shaw of Azle TX, her daughter Cherie and her husband Russ Trautwein of Burleson, TX; her son Jay Reeves and his wife Monica Lander of Bothell WA; her grandchildren Brian Myrow and his wife Terra, Kyle Myrow, Whitney Grant Brooks and her husband Shea, and Brandon Grant; her great-grandchildren Tyler and Dylon Myrow; and her many nieces, nephews and other relatives.
A graveside service will be held at Emerald Hills Memorial Park, 500 Kennedale Sublett Road, Kennedale, Texas on Tuesday, February 9, 2021 at 2:00PM. There will be a opportunity for viewing on Monday, February 8, 2021 from 4:00-8:00PM at Emerald Hills Funeral Home in Kennedale. There will be no formal visitation per family’s request due to COVID-19.
The family wishes to extend their gratitude to Remarkable Healthcare, Hospice, Emerald Hills and to the many friends and family that have offered their condolences and prayers.
