Sara Ann Purser, formerly Sara Ann Meakin, 45, of Arlington, TX passed away suddenly on October 13, 2011 at her home.
Funeral Service: 10:00 a.m. Tuesday at Emerald Hills Chapel. Visitation: 6-8 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.
Sara was the youngest of 5 children. She married Curtis "Jay" Purser in Ft. Worth on March 13, 1993. They raised 2 children. She was very active in the Arlington ISD PTA and served as a room mother for several years
She attended The University of Texas Medical Branch in Galveston and graduated with honors in 1991 with a degree in Medical Technology. She was also a member of Phi Beta Delta International Honor Society. While attending college, she studied health care economics at the University of London where she was offered the Rhodes Scholarship. Upon graduation, she worked as a medical technologist for three years in hospitals and medical laboratories. She was a resident of Arlington for 17 years.
Sara was a lifelong member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints and held many callings. She enjoyed cooking, reading, and a variety of crafts. She also reviewed research grants for scientific organizations of which many were approved and led to changes in medical research worldwide. She also loved to travel and demonstrated an innate ability to bring joy into the lives of everyone she met.
She was preceded in death by her father, Arthur W. Meakin, Jr., mother, Virginia (Evelyn) Meakin; and brother, Charles Fred Meakin.
Sara will be remembered by her loving husband and their children, Michael Jay Purser of Arlington and Mary Elizabeth Jolley of Springtown; brother, Arthur W. Meakin III; and sisters, Kimberly Kuhn and Cheryl Drake.
