Shirley Jean Curry, 71, passed away on March 15, 2021 at the hospital in Arlington, Texas. She was born on April 30, 1949 in Honey Grove, Texas to James Leroy Scott and Opal Nip Scott. Shirley grew up in Honey Grove, Texas. She graduated from Sam Houston High School in Arlington, Texas in 1967. After high school she began work for Menasco as a secretary where she worked for many years.
Shirley married Curtis in 1981 in Arlington, Texas. They were happily married for many wonderful years. Shirley was a member of New Beginnings Baptist Church. She enjoyed serving others in and outside of the church. Her dedication to the Card Ministry brought great happiness, care and love to many lives. Her hobbies and interests were going to Winstar, Shopping, QVC, and expressing pride and joy about her children and grandchildren.
Shirley was preceded in death by her husband, Curtis Curry and her parents, Mr. and Mrs. James Scott.
Shirley is survived by her daughter, Traci Dorsett of Arlington Texas; her son, Tony Duncan of Arlington Texas; her son, Curt (and Allison) Curry of Arlington Texas; her sister, Vickey (and Johnny) Farrar of Arlington, Texas; her sister, Shela (and Don) Kirby of Arlington, Texas; her brother, Dennis Scott of Arlington Texas; her grandchildren, Tyler Dorsett, Cutter McDonald, Amberly Walker, Chad Kiser, Andy Kiser, Brittney Curry, Cheree Curry, Anderson Curry, Avery Curry, Colton Curry, Haley Curry; and many great-grandchildren; her nieces and nephews, Tobi Farrar, Jeremy Farrar, Kelley Kirby, and Brittney Scott.
A celebration of life service will be held at New Beginnings Baptist Church in Venus, Texas at 11:00 on Sunday, March 28th.
If donations are desired, the family requests memorial donations be made to New Beginnings Baptist Church.
The family wishes to extend their gratitude to family and friends.
