Shirley Ann Stephens, 79, passed away on June 1st, 2023, at Medical City Arlington Hospital, Arlington, Texas. She was born on July 19th, 1943, in San Antonio, TX to Samuel McDonald and Clovis Freeman McDonald.
Shirley grew up in San Antonio, TX. She graduated from Robert E. Lee High School in San Antonio in 1961. After high school, she attended San Antonio College. Shirley worked at Montgomery Ward and then became a full-time wife and mother of three boys, at home. From 1993 to 2008, Shirley worked as a preschool Teacher at South Oaks Baptist Church, in Arlington, Texas, and was recognized for 15 years of service there. Shirley was always heavily involved at church. She loved her Howard Schutt Sunday School class at South Oaks Baptist. She served many times as a Sunday School Teacher, in prayer groups and numerous volunteer efforts.
Shirley married Harry Lee Stephens in 1963 in San Antonio, TX. They were happily married for 59 years. Shirley was a member of South Oaks Baptist Church and enjoyed music, playing cards, baking and mostly, hosting family birthday and holiday parties.
Shirley was preceded in death by her parents, Samuel McDonald and Clovis Freeman McDonald and sister, Elaine McDonald Shipman.
Shirley is survived by her spouse, Harry Stephens, of Arlington, TX; her sons, Robert, Richard and Gary; her sister Cyndi McDonald Pierce; her 6 grandchildren Kayla, Christopher, Dylan, Macy, Reese and Megan; her great-grandson Liam; along with 5 nieces and 2 nephews.
