Tex Vernon Greer, 80, passed away on 19, June 2024 at Alvarado Meadows Nursing & Rehabilitation in Alvarado, TX. He was born on March 30,1944, in Boone, NC to Paul and Iva Carroll Greer.

Tex grew up in Boone, NC. He graduated from Appalachian High School in Boone, NC in 1962. After high school he moved to Fort Worth, Texas and began work as an Electrician. Tex worked as an Electrician for 42 years and retired in 2004 due to complications suffered from a stroke.

Tex was involved in youth baseball in Everman, TX. where he coached his son’s youth baseball teams. Tex always enjoyed a good western movie. Especially if John Wayne was the star. Tex made it a point to brag about all of his Grandchildren and Great Grandchildren to everyone he met. He was a very proud Pa Paw.

Tex married Mary Ebarb in 1963 in Burleson, TX. They were happily married for 61 years and resided in Everman, Texas for the duration of their marriage.

Tex was preceded in death by his son, Vernon Lee Greer. Parents, Paul and Iva Lee Greer. Grandson, Christopher Greer.

Tex is survived by his spouse Mary of Everman, TX, his sister, Diann Jones of Fort Worth, TX. Sons, Doug Greer (Tracy) of Mansfield, TX. Stacy Greer (Melissa) of Everman, TX. Clayton Greer (Leigh) of Bowie, TX. 10 Grandchildren and 7 Great Grandchildren.

A memorial service will be scheduled at a later time.

The family wishes to extend their gratitude to all the caregivers and entire staff at Alvarado Meadows Nursing & Rehabilitation Facility. This institution treated Tex like a member of their family and the Greer family is eternally grateful to everyone at Alvarado Meadows.
