Tommy Smith

December 31, 1948 — September 16, 2019

Kennedale

Tommy Harmon Smith went to be with the Lord on Monday, September 16, 2019.  He was born on December 31, 1948 in Weatherford to Donald Smith and Martha Ann Turner Smith.  Tommy was preceded in death by his father, Don.

Those left to cherish his memories are his wife, Jeanne Smith;  and their treasured family, DeeAnn Smith Hudson and husband Chris, Candice Graves and partner Brad, Stacy Smith Flinn and husband Cody.  They have six “grands” who already miss their Granddaddy: Cole Blasutta, Jack Leitner, Anthony Hudson, Addyson Garcia, Danielle Hudson, and Daxton Graham.  Also survived by loving mother, Martha Ann Smith; brother Craig Smith and wife Nancy, sister Sue Schechter and many nieces and nephews.

Tommy was a fun loving man who, at some point in his life, enjoyed and played any sport that involved a ball.  He grew up in Jacksboro, Tx and attended McMurray College and TCU on football scholarships.  He ran the Cowtown Marathon in 1990 and frequently cycled the Hotter Than Hell race.  After retirement, some of his most valued friendships and golf scores were at Walnut Creek Country Club where he typically enjoyed playing four days a week.

He had a successful 36 year career at Texaco, and he was honored to run with the Olympic Torch through Dallas in 1996 as the Texaco sponsor representative.  He always enjoyed deer and hog hunting on the “beer leases” with his Texaco coworkers and customers.

His family will receive friends for a Celebration of Life Visitation on Friday, September 27, 2019 from 6:00-8:00PM at Emerald Hills Funeral Home in Kennedale.  The funeral service on Saturday is immediate family only.

Tommy’s volunteer passion was the food pantry at their church.  Upon his request, in lieu of flowers please consider a contribution to the  St. Vincent de Paul Food Pantry, St. Jude Catholic Church, 500 East Dallas St., Mansfield, TX 76063.
