Tommy Dale Tabor, 65, went to be with his Heavenly Father on February 19, 2022 in Mansfield, Texas. He was born on February 25, 1956 in Waco, Texas to E.C. and Jessie (Williams) Tabor.
Tommy grew up in Waco, Texas and graduated from Waco High School in 1974. After high school, he attended Texas Tech University in Lubbock, Texas where he received a bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering in 1980, and was licensed in civil, mechanical, and electrical engineering. He married Sharon Vance on December 20, 1980, his wife of 41 years. He began working for Hicks and Ragland in Lubbock, Texas as a mechanical engineer where he worked for 5 years. In 1985, he moved to Waco, Texas and worked for Tabor and Associates Consulting Engineers where he worked as an engineer for 14 years. In 1999, he moved to Mansfield, Texas where he worked for various engineering companies, before starting his own engineering firm, T. Tabor Consulting, PLLC in 2003, where he worked until the Lord called him home. He was a lifelong member of the Church of Christ, most recently attending Midway Church of Christ in Hurst, Texas. Tommy was always learning new things, whether it was hatching and raising various fowl, hunting, reloading, hydroponic gardening, soap making, cheese-making, cooking, canning, pickling, and many others. Most of all, he enjoyed serving God, spending time with his grandchildren, mentoring, helping others, and doing random acts of kindness for strangers.
Tommy was preceded in death by his parents, E.C. and Jessie Tabor.
He is survived by his spouse Sharon Tabor of Mansfield, Texas; his daughter, Andrea Tabor of Mansfield, Texas; daughter Amanda Boettger and husband, Keith Boettger, of Mansfield, Texas; grandchildren, Benjamin and Michaela Boettger and Bradley and Brian Clendennen; sister Barbara Tabor of Sequim, Washington; brothers, Clinton Tabor and wife, Jan Tabor of Waco; and Johnny Tabor, and wife, Lyn Tabor of Waco, Texas; and his nieces and nephews and other relatives.
A visitation will be held at Emerald Hills Funeral Home, 500 Kennedale Sublett Road, Kennedale, Texas from 5:00 to 7:00 pm on February 25, 2022. A memorial service will be held at Emerald Hills Funeral Home, 500 Kennedale Sublett Road, Kennedale, Texas at 1:30 pm on Saturday, February 26, 2022. Burial will follow at Emerald Hills Cemetery.
The family wishes to extend their gratitude to Officer Justin Graves, Mansfield Police and Fire Department, and family and friends who have offered support, prayers, and condolences during this time.
