Victoria Kern

Victoria Anne Kern, 57, passed away on Thursday, September 16, 2021 at Baylor Scott & White Hospital in Grapevine, Texas. She was born on January 18, 1964 in Fort Worth, Texas to James Lawson Upham and Patricia Ellene (Nance) Upham.

Victoria grew up in Midland, Texas. She graduated from Midland High School in 1982. After high school she attended Texas A&M University and graduated with her associate degree in Respiratory Therapy from Midland College.  She worked as a Respiratory Therapist until marriage when she devoted her attention to her marriage and starting her family.  Victoria volunteered as a librarian sharing her passion for reading at Hill Elementary and Bailey Junior High in Arlington.

Victoria married James Kern in 1988 in Stephenville, Texas. They were happily married and would have celebrated their 33rd anniversary this October.  She was of the Baptist faith and currently attended Wood’s Chapel in Arlington, Texas.

Victoria was preceded in death by mother, Patricia Upham.

Those left to cherish Victoria’s memories are her husband, Jim Kern; daughter, Brynna Martin and husband Sawyer; son, Dalton Kern; granddaughter, Averee; beloved dog, Dobby; father, James Upham and wife Susan; brother, Robert Upham; father-in-law, William G. Kern and wife Patricia; brothers-in-law, David Kern and Douglas Kern; sister-in-law, Kathleen Kern; nephews, Michael and wife Linna, Danny, Alex; and niece, Meagan.

A celebration of life service will be held at Emerald Hills Funeral Home (500 Kennedale Sublett Road, Kennedale, Texas 76060), on Thursday, September 23, 2021 at 2:00PM.

In lieu of flowers the family requests memorial donations be made to Shelter 2 Rescue, www.shelter2rescue.org or American Cancer Society, www.donate3.cancer.org.

The family wishes to extend their gratitude to Texas Oncology and Doctor Firstenburg, Nurse Melanie, and the ICU nurses at Baylor Scott & White Grapevine Hospital.
