KENNEDALE -- Virginia "Ginnie" J. Barrett, 71, passed from this life into the arms of Jesus on Sunday, Aug. 10, 2008.
Service: 2 p.m. Thursday at Life Fellowship Church on Sublett Road. Interment: Emerald Hills Memorial Park. Visitation: 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Emerald Hills Funeral Home.
Ginnie was born Feb. 19, 1937, to Frank R. Cunningham and Lorraine G. Putnam Cunningham. She was a practicing Christian who dedicated her life to her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. She was a longtime member of Life Fellowship Church, and she passed her love for the Lord on to all her family. She was exceptionally proud to be an adopted Texan.
Ginnie accompanied her husband during his 31-year Air Force career to many assignments including a four-year tour at RAF Alconbury in England. She had lived in Kennedale and San Antonio for the past 50 years. She was the past president of the Woman's Auxiliary of the VFW in San Antonio. She retired from Wal-Mart in 2001 and was very active in Life Fellowship Church's Young at Heart Club.
Preceding her in death were her parents; brother, Wayne Cunningham; and sisters, Betty and Sylvia Cunningham.
Survivors: Her husband, George Barrett; children, Colleen M. Tyson of Concord, N.C., John F. Barrett of Killeen and Terri L. Helms of Thorndale, Pa.; grandchildren, John F. Barrett Jr., Billie Rae Barrett, Jeremi Fisher, Marine Corps Staff Sgt. Jennifer Helms, Jillian Helms, Caitlyn Helms, Army Staff Sgt. Brad Stuckey, Dallas J. Tyson, Gary Daniel Barrett and Stacie Ann Scheel; 16 great-grandchildren; sisters, Jackie and Patty; brother, Ronald Cunningham; four-legged "children," Brutus and Penny; and a host of other family and friends.
