Vyron "Whitey" Wells, 75, passed away Monday, July 26, 2010, at a Dallas hospital after a long struggle with heart complications.
Funeral: 10 a.m. Monday at Emerald Hills Memorial Chapel. Interment: Emerald Hills Memorial Park. Visitation: 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
Mr. "Whitey" Wells was an active auto racing enthusiast and raced at a drag strip in Forest Hill in the 1950s, and also raced his car in Kennedale in the 1990s. He was a retired General Motors employee who spent many hours at drag races and working on cars until he had to adapt to the changes and poor health that came with a failing heart, while on the waiting list at Baylor University Medical Center Dallas for an organ transplant. He will be dearly missed by all who knew him.
Survivors: Wife, Betty Wells; daughter, Stacy Hemingway and husband, Brad; nine grandchildren; sister, Linda Armor; numerous nieces and nephews; and many, many friends.
