Grandview

Wanda Loree “Mom” Ellett, daughter of the late Marshall Angel and Elsie Valina Webb was born in Colorado City, Texas on January 7th 1929. She was raised in the nearby farming community of Westbrook, Texas where she was the youngest daughter in the sharecropping family. Wed to Ben Edwin Ellett in April of 1945, she would have three children. She was preceded in death by husband Ben Ed, 1970, daughter Sharon Yvonne Collins, 1984 and son Leslie Thomas Webb Ellett 2013. Mom would go on to be one of the biggest Dallas Cowboys fans in team history. Having held season tickets since 1969 until her passing, she would join “Tha Boys” travelling to five Superbowls. She even received a happy birthday note from Superbowl Champion quarterback Troy Aikman for her 84th birthday. The only thing Mom loved more than her team was her animals. Raising numerous exotic and farm animals she would eventually maintain a small farm with donkeys, pigs, peacocks, ducks and geese. Perhaps her favorite ever was the one who lived inside, the ever-so loving parrot, Baby. Never one to sit still, Mom also had a green thumb, maintaining an ever growing garden. When Mom was able to get everything settled at the farm, she loved to travel. Oftentimes she would take along her kids and grandkids on seemingly endless adventures all across the country. It wasn’t that long ago she went to the Superbowl in Arizona and just a few months later was soaking up the sun with Sissy, Tina and Kristin where they stayed in a Florida hut with alligators crawling underneath them. Her beautiful and storied life will live on forever in the hearts of all that were blessed by her amazing charm and wit: Daughter Linda Jo Riley whom she resided with, granddaughter Tina Spradlin and family of The Woodlands, grandson Ronald Doyle Riley of Grandview, granddaughter Kristin Loree Cooper-Chadwick and family of Kennedale, granddaughter Tiffany Hankins and family of Decatur and grandson Wesley Ellett of Arlington; 13 great-grandchildren and six great-great-grandchildren; lifelong friends Bobbie Nell Smith and family, the Boyd family of Kennedale, David and Debbie Brimer and family of Fort Worth as well as Nancy Carroll and family of Kennedale.
