At 82 years young, Wanda Lee Barnett was escorted to the gates of Heaven by her forever Valentine of 60 years, Jackie Don Barnett, on February 15, 2025.
Wanda was born on March 9, 1942. Moving often as she grew up, Wanda attended 35 schools, graduating from Abilene’s Wylie high school in 1960. Wanda and Jackie were married in Abilene, Texas August 22, 1964. Wanda served in many capacities as an administrative assistant at various companies including Borden’s Milk Company, Dow Industries, Century 21 Real Estate, Alvarado State Bank, Radio Shack, Linda Neely Attorney, and as the PEIMS secretary for Alvarado Independent School District.
Wanda and Jackie are members at Sublett Road Baptist Church.
The family legacy Wanda built with her husband, Jackie, includes children David & Shelley Barnett of Arlington, TX and Brian & Tama Garrison of Midlothian, TX, grandchildren Caleb &Gillian Garrison of Burleson, TX, Emma Garrison of Midlothian, TX, Calvin &Hannah Pitman of Austin, TX, Sarah Barnett of Seattle, WA, Naomi Barnett of Colorado Springs, CO, great-grandsons Paxton & Cooper Pitman of Austin TX, a host of nieces & nephews, and friends who became family.
A Memorial Service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Monday, February 24, 2025 at Emerald Hills Funeral Home Chapel 500 Kennedale Sublett Road, Kennedale, Texas 76060.
The family wishes to extend their gratitude to Omega Hospice Nurse Chioma, Caregivers Sherry & Nakia, South Arlington Bible Study Fellowship, Sublett Road Baptist Church, Venus Elementary family, Nelson University Football Family, FBC Midlothian, and the many prayer warriors whose continued prayers sustain and bless Wanda’s family, glorifying our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ as we process Wanda’s earthly departure and walk toward heaven to see her again.
But as for me, I know that my Redeemer lives, & he will stand upon the earth at last. And after my body has decayed, yet in my body I will see God. I will see him for myself. Yes I will see him with my own eyes. Job 19:25-27
