William Joseph Drake (Bill), 82, passed away on Sunday, October the 4th, 2020 at Mansfield Methodist in Mansfield, Tx. He was born on December, 9th, 1937 in the home that he grew up in Davison, Michigan to Charles and Theadora Drake.
Bill grew up in Davison and graduated from Davison High School in 1956 where he excelled in all sports. After high school he:
joined the Army in 1958 and served for 2 years. He served in Germany as a medic and He was discharged in 1959, achieving the rank of spc. 4.
He began work in the Meat packing business, as a butcher, he owned and operated Drakes Meat processing for several years, worked as a journeymen glazer, afterwards opened Drakes Overhead Door Co. for 11 years, then moving to Arlington Texas where he managed Wayne overhead door, he also owned and operated Skyline Overhead Door Co. before settled in at DGB Glass where he was head superintendent, retiring from DGB Glass in 2004. And he spent his ladder years building and wood working for his family and friends. where he found joy in helping others
Bill married Carolyn in 1963 in Davison, Michigan. They were happily married for 57 years. He enjoyed hunting, camping and traveling. As well as spending time with his family and friends.
Bill was preceded in death by his Parents Charles and Theadora Drake, Sister Jane Madden. And Daughter Lori Drake
Bill is survived by his spouse Carolyn Drake of Alvarado, TX; His Son Robin and Joann Welch of Corona, California; His son Todd Welch of Lappeer, Michigan; His Daughter Jan and Dan Finn of Alvarado, TX; Grandchildren Dan and Amanda Finn; Janyel and Rodrigo Barrera, five great grandchildren Luci, Sophie and Evan Finn, Rocky and Jordan Barrera; Two sisters Mary Goddard, Franny Kuntz and one brother Tom Drake.
A Visitation will be held at Emerald Hills Funeral Home, 500 Kennedale Sublett Rd, Kennedale, TX at 10:00, 10/9/2020. A memorial service will start at 11:00, 10/9/2020. The family will be greeting friends and relatives after the memorial service. Burial will follow at Greenacres Cemetery.
