William Lee Long

June 10, 1945 — February 7, 2025

William Lee Long, 79, passed away on February 7th, 2025, at Mustang Creek Estates in Burleson Texas. He was born on June 10th, 1945, in Fort Worth, Texas to E.F. and Dorothy (Currier) Long.

William grew up in Webb, Texas. He received his GED when he was 18.

He began working for Redman Manufacturing in Arlington Texas as a Lumber Mill Worker. He worked there for over 20 years and a received a Perfect Work Attendance Award. He always contributed to help his family out each paycheck.

Eventually He moved to Kennedale, Texas and lived there until 2019. During that time, he helped take care of his mother during her time of illness.

William was a member of Webb Baptist Church for many years along with his mother. Later he went to Oakdale Baptist Church in Mansfield Texas. He attended there for many years and was very faithful to go each week.

William loved animals. He would treat them like family and always gave them the best of care. He had several dogs and 1 cat he called Miss Whiskers. His last dog was named Biscuit. He loved her with all his heart. She went everywhere with him. He loved to walk in nearby parks almost every day and Biscuit accompanied him on each one. He and Biscuit were well known in Mansfield and Kennedale by fellow walkers. He frequented The Dollar General daily and he also loved I-HOP.

 William was preceded in death by his parents, E.F. and Dorothy Long; brother, James Long; and sisters, Linda Hanson and Margie Wheeler. 

William is survived by his sister, Lois Jaynes of Longview Texas and his brother in law, Mike Hanson of Mansfield Texas along with many Nieces and nephews, great nieces and nephews and great great nieces and nephews. 

A funeral service will be held at Emerald Hills Funeral Home in Kennedale Texas on Saturday, February 15th, 2025 at 12:00PM. The family will be greeting friends and family at 11:00AM before the service. Burial will follow at Emerald Hills Cemetery. 

The family wishes to extend their gratitude to St Gabriels Hospice and Palliative Care of Fort Worth Texas. They did an outstanding job for caring for William for several years. Also, to many of the care givers at Mustang Creek Estates of Burleson Texas in D – House. 

In lieu of flowers, the family request donations to the ASPCA of North Texas @ Secure.aspca.org
