Woodie Joe Curry, beloved husband, father, pawpaw, brother, and friend, passed away peacefully surrounded by loving family on January 6, 2024, in Rendon, Texas. He was born on September 22, 1941, in Forth Worth, Texas to the late Woodrow Wilson & Gussie Louise Curry.
Joe will always be remembered for his love of the Lord, his love and passion for his family and a dedicated work ethic. He began his career as a Welder with the General Portland Cement Company where he worked for an impressive 15 years. Joe’s skills and commitment made him an invaluable asset to the company. Later in life, he embarked on an entrepreneurial journey as Co-Owner of Curry’s Total Tree Service for 15 Years. Joe’s strong work ethic and determination were evident in everything he did.
Outside of work, Joe had a wide range of interests and hobbies. He enjoyed spending quality time with his family more than anything else. His face would light up with joy whenever he was surrounded by loved ones. Joe also found solace in nature and loved fishing, hunting, and gardening. These activities allowed him to connect with the world around him.
The memory of Joe will forever live on in the hearts of those who loved him dearly. He is proceeded in death by his son William Jason Curry and brother’s Bobby Lee Curry and Ronald Gene Curry. He is survived by his loving wife of 56 years, Mary I. Curry, children, Donny Curry, Jimmy & Tracy Curry, Mark Sr. & Lisa Curry, Rusty Moon, and Wendie Curry, grandchildren, Stephen Curry, Nicole & Eloy Ortiz, Tadinger Brown, Rachel & Nick Gibert, Baylie & Taran Kilian, Wendie Taylor Curry, Jordan Curry, Dillon Curry, Austin Curry, Cavan Williams, Weston Curry, and Ethan Curry, great grandchildren, Peyton Curry, Presley Ortiz, Piper Curry, Jaycey Ortiz, Maximus Ortiz, Emerson Curry, Dawson Kilian, and Baby Girl Curry (Due April 2024).
Joe’s kind soul touched many lives throughout the years. His genuineness and warmth drew people toward him effortlessly. His presence will be sorely missed by all who had the pleasure of knowing him.
