Mrs. Caviness was born Aug. 3, 1928, to Boace and Lola Mae Nelson in the small Texas town of Savoy. She had a wonderful childhood in a loving Christian home where she developed a love for music, especially classical music and hymns. She learned to play the piano and organ and used those skills in her church service for many years. She graduated from high school, married her "Honey," Jean Caviness, and enrolled with him in Bible Baptist Seminary in Arlington. They were a model for all of how a marriage should be: happy, supportive, loving and God-honoring. They joyfully served together at Trentman Avenue Baptist Church, later called Pleasantview Baptist for over 50 years.
The Lord blessed them with two daughters, Wanette and Shaunna. She was a devoted loving wife and a supportive nurturing mother. She was a woman of beauty and grace with breathtaking eyes and a genuine smile. She received great joy by spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren and was at her best when she saw new life through their eyes. She left us with memories that will help fill the void created in our hearts and lives by the completion of her life's journey.
She was preceded in death by her parents; sister, Vivian Campbell; daughter, Wanette Caviness; great-grandson, Jonas Phillips; and her husband, Jean Caviness.
Survivors: Loving daughter, Shaunna Smith and husband, Jake; grandchildren, Ashley and Matthew Hoskins, Zacary and Brittney Phillips; great-grandchildren, Micah, Kade and Savannah Hoskins, Josiah and Julien Phillips; nieces and nephews; and a host of other family and friends.
