George Roberts

Kennedale

George Preston Roberts, 83, passed away on Saturday, July 10, 2021 at his home in Kennedale, Texas. He was born on August 17, 1937 in Decatur, Texas to Lantha Murl Roberts and Nettie Roberts.

George grew up in Krum, Texas and moved to Kennedale at the age of twelve.  He was a self-made entrepreneur and a respected businessman in the community in Real Estate and Sales.  George served on the Board of Directors at Forest Hill State Bank, was a City Council Member for Kennedale, and served on the Kennedale ISD School Board.  He was a member of First Baptist Church in Kennedale for over fifty-five years and also served as a Deacon.  His greatest joy was his family, grandkids, and great grandbabies.  He was thankful for his friends and the laughter he shared with them over the years.

George married Joy Childres in 1958 in Kennedale and they were happily married for 63 years.

George was preceded in death by parents, Lantha and Nettie Roberts; and brother, Billy Murl Roberts.

Those left to cherish George’s memories are his wife, Joy Roberts; children, Jeff Roberts and wife Tanya and Dee Knox and husband Wade; grandchildren, Preston, Kaitlyn, Hayden, Logan, Paige; great grandchildren, Kaleb, Fiona, Carmine, and another one on the way; and sister, Lana Masterson.

A memorial service will be held at First Baptist Church Kennedale, 309 Kenney Street, Kennedale, Texas, 76060 on Saturday, July 17, 2021 at 1:00PM. The family will be greeting friends and relatives one hour prior to the service.
